Check and Cleans in Kenmore
When you’re a patient at Princeton Dental, our highly skilled dental team makes your oral hygiene health our top priority.
What to Expect During Your Appointment
During your check and clean, we may take zoomed-in intraoral photos of each tooth. These images serve as your dental records. This gives our dental team a baseline for current and future care. It helps us watch the progression of any decay or cracks from one visit to another, and we love to show you these photos at the end of the appointment so you can see what we see.
Next, you may have bitewing X-rays taken. We schedule these for patients every two years to check for holes or abnormalities inside and in between teeth. It catches the decay and underlying problems that we cannot see on the tooth’s outer surfaces or with the naked eye.
We then record and check every tooth and the soft tissues and also perform an oral cancer screening. We finish the appointment, which typically takes 30 minutes, with a teeth clean, including ultrasonic, polish and fluoride application.
Early Detection and Prevention Are Key
It’s recommended patients visit us every six months for a check and clean. This time frame allows our team to catch signs of early decay, often when they’re small and superficial and can be easily fixed with a small filling – and often, no need for the use of needles. It also helps keep calculus to a minimum and keeps each subsequent clean simple.
Patients can support our efforts in the office by flossing each day, brushing their teeth twice a day, and drinking plenty of water.
